Massano Rotary Hoe/Bed Former

MassanoBedFormer.webp

The Massano Rotary Hoe/Bed Formers have been designed to meet the needs of the horticultural industry requiring precise soil cultivation and bed shaping. In a single pass they perform three fundamental operations: bury stones and crop residues; cultivate the soil and shape beds of various heights. This integrated process improves the seedbed quality ensuring excellent aeration, drainage and soil structure.

Models range from 1050mm to 5800mm working width suitable for tractors between 40 to 280Hp HP. There is a choice between two different rotary blade systems and three different bed formers (see below). Manufactured in Italy.

The Rotostone rotor is the ideal solution for working stony soils, thanks to its spade-shaped hoes and reverse rotation with respect to the tractor’s forward movement. This system lifts and separates stones, hard clods, and plant residues, projecting them onto a selection grill that deposits them deeper into the soil, while the finely tilled soil remains on the surface, ready for sowing. The hoes can handle even large stones, ensuring a clean, well-drained seedbed ideal for high-quality crops. Robust and versatile, the Rotostone guarantees excellent performance even on challenging soils, making it a reliable ally for every agronomic need.

The Frangiter rotor represents a technological advancement in soil tillage, specifically designed for clayey, compact or hard-to-manage soils. Its aggressive yet controlled action is ensured by sharp, angled hoe blades with a blade-like geometry, which break clods into fine, uniform particles, creating even and high-performing seedbeds. Thanks to its exclusive design, Frangiter optimises power transmission to the ground, reducing the load on the tractor. The result is outstanding operational efficiency, with low energy consumption and reduced machine wear. The angled flanges, engineered for optimal soil flow, prevent material buildup even in high-moisture conditions, maintaining consistent working depth and soil refinement quality—even in the most challenging soils.

Short Bed Former

Wide distribution for uniform sowing. Thanks to its open geometry and ploughshares arranged along a short profile, the soil is shaped horizontally, creating wide and shallow beds. This configuration is ideal for crops that do not require deep soil but need consistent space for both root systems and above-ground growth.
It is the perfect solution for lettuce, chard, cabbage, spinach, courgettes, and other shallow-growing vegetables.

Key advantages

  1. Wide and low beds, ideal for shallow-rooted vegetables.

  2. Uniform soil distribution for consistent sowing across the full width.

  3. Reduced draft force, perfect for fast operations over large areas.

  4. Improved seedbed aeration, supporting healthy above-ground plant development.

Long Bed Former

Funnel-shaped geometry for precise shaping

The innovative funnel-shaped design guides the soil processed by the stone burier through contoured ploughshares, which compact and raise it with precision.
The result is the formation of high and narrow beds—ideal for underground-growing vegetables such as carrots, onions, leeks, red beet, etc.—that require a deep seedbed and compact soil structure to ensure proper root development.

Key advantages

  1. High and well-defined beds, ideal for professional horticulture.

  2. Wide-range adjustable ploughshares suitable for various agronomic conditions.

  3. Improved tractor efficiency due to reduced draft force.

  4. Consistent bed profile, ideal for narrow and deep row crops.

Parallelogram Bed Former

Dynamic geometry for customised beds

The parallelogram bed former shaper retains the funnel-shaped geometry of the long-profile version but introduces independent adjustment from the machine frame. This innovation allows for greater working depth, rapid adaptation to varying soil conditions, reduced tractor load, and even compaction—even on uneven terrain.
An advanced solution that enhances bed-forming quality and operational efficiency, it is ideal for deep-rooted crops such as carrots, onions, and beets.

Key advantages

  1. Reduced draft force, with increased fuel efficiency.

  2. Greater working depth and width compared to traditional shapers.

  3. Adjustable compaction level to optimise root development.

  4. Versatile structure, suitable for different sowing conditions and crop types.
